The Zone Diet was developed by Dr. Barry Sears. The diet became known and popular after the publication of Dr. Sears’ New York Times #1 best-seller “The Zone” in 1995.

The Zone Diet is based on the concept that cellular inflammation is what makes people gain weight. The cellular inflammation cannot be reversed by any drug, only by an anti-inflammatory diet, which is what the Zone Diet is. The Zone Diet is said to reverse the cellular inflammation and maintain the inflammatory hormones within a good Zone, not high and not too low.

In the Zone Diet, they recommend you mainly eat 1/3 low-fat protein, and 2/3 vegetables and fruits, while avoiding harmful foods. You also need to maintain the correct balance of protein, carbs, and fats at each meal, which may make the execution a bit difficult.
