The Zone Diet is based on the concept that cellular inflammation is what makes people gain weight. The cellular inflammation cannot be reversed by any drug, only by an anti-inflammatory diet, which is what the Zone Diet is. The Zone Diet is said to reverse the cellular inflammation and maintain the inflammatory hormones within a good Zone, not high and not too low.
In the Zone Diet, they recommend you mainly eat 1/3 low-fat protein, and 2/3 vegetables and fruits, while avoiding harmful foods. You also need to maintain the correct balance of protein, carbs, and fats at each meal, which may make the execution a bit difficult.
