Rachael Ray Weight Loss
Many people are still curious about Rachael Ray’s weight loss (the majority of which was realized between 2009 and 2010), and how it was achieved. Rachael has always had a “womanly” figure with curves, and with her weight loss, she became even more attractive and alluring. She stated that she had no idea how much weight she lost; nevertheless, she had gone down two to three dress sizes.
So, how was she able to lose such a substantial amount of weight despite her super-busy schedule and the fact that she cooks up delicious, mouth watering dishes every day? After putting two and two together, here’s how the Rachael Ray weight loss battle was won.
Rachael Ray’s Weight Loss Story
It appears the turning point for Rachael’s weight loss was her undergoing a throat surgery to remove a cyst.
The surgery left Rachael unable to speak for 3 weeks. In an attempt to release some steam, she started going to the gym with her husband.
Rachael began running 3.5 miles each day following the surgery to remove the cyst. She was never one of those people who loved going to the gym, and she especially hated running.
According to Women’s Health Magazine dated October 2010, she first hit the cardio machines; running for three and a half miles either on the treadmill or using the elliptical machine. Then she proceeded to do strength training on the machines.
She was off to the gym each day of the week, except Sundays. At the time, Rachael said that she felt healthier and sexier like never before! She felt additional energy although she really needed no extra energy 🙂 To the surprise of many, Rachael said she had “no idea” how much weight she lost, since she never got on the scale!
How About Dietary Changes?
There is no mention of any dietary changes for Rachael Ray’s weight loss. However it is very likely that she adopted healthier and more weight friendly eating habits.
When Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were on her show in May 2012, Ellen mentioned briefly the fact that Rachel Ray ate vegetarian a few nights a week. In the article about her weight loss, Rachel Ray also shared the following healthy snack recipes on Women’s Health Magazine.
Tuna Antipasti – Drizzle canned tuna (she likes to use white, packed in water) with a little fresh lemon juice and EVOO (extra-virgin olive oil). Then chop up your favorite antipasti (roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, and olives are Rachael’s go-tos) and mix together.
Greek Yogurt Veggie Dip – Mix 2 cups nonfat Greek yogurt with 1 teaspoon each garlic powder, ground cumin, and ground coriander. Add the juice of half a lemon and salt and pepper to taste. Serve with assorted veggies for dipping, such as carrots, celery, and zucchini.

Rachael Ray mentioned that she actually felt happy exercising, which she used to hate, and her mood had become more even.
The way Rachael Ray lost her weight shows the power of exercise not only in helping you lose weight but also making you feel emotionally better.
It also shows that given the right kind of exercise, you can start loving exercise even if you hate it right now.
